Sandia Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc.
Directions to Sandia Motorsports Park
SMRI Race Track events are held solely at Sandia Motorsports Park on the west side of Albuquequerque, NM. The simplest way to get to the park is via Interstate 40.
If coming from the East (Albuquerque) take I-40 West up "Nine-Mile-Hill" to the Exit 149, Atrisco Vista. From the west Exit 149 Atrisco Vista is the first exit after the Route 66 Casino Hotel located at exit 140.
At the stop sign atop the exit ramp turn south (no matter which way you were headed on the Interstate), then turn right at the first stop sign onto Frontage Road SW. Frontage Road SW dead ends at a stop sign where you'll turn left onto Shelly Drive SW. You'll go about two miles and see the track on the right. Turn right just before the track onto Cerro Colorado Road and the entrance to Sandia Motorsports Park is on your left.
Be prepared to stop at the gate to sign the liability release form and remit the $5 gate fee, or show your club credentials (Racer License, Pit Pass, or Associate Membership) to gain admittance to the facility. Once inside the gate you'll have free range of most of the facility including the grand stands and the pits.
Sandia Motorsports Park features a snack bar where lunch is usually on the order of $10 per person. It also has indoor restrooms, grand stands with an excellent view of the racetrack, and several power distribution points inside the pits where those who have a camper or need of power for tire warmers can plug in a cord.
The park allows overnight camping at no additional charge the night before each event, so feel free to bring your camper, RV, or toy hauler to the track. The power distribution points are arrayed along the west side of the pits, so if you need power keep that in mind and reserve a pit space on that side of the pits.
